Required Music
“Far Away Places”

  • Instructions

Music is thoughtfully chosen to have multi-levels parts and not only keeping in mind the additional music students will learn during our week but also having only 5 days to prepare a full program.

    1) Choosing your ensemble - We offer three levels of ensemble playing. Go to Learn More and select Choosing Your Ensemble for descriptions of the levels for each ensemble.

    2) Choose a part for each required piece in your ensemble.

    3) Purchase your music.
Music may be purchased from any vendor(s) of your choice.

Some pieces allow the option to buy a single part vs. all the parts. This provides a more cost effective purchase.

For your convenience, Melody’s Traditional Music of Houston has created a page (Coming soon) under Harp Journeys on their website for HSHF required music. HSHF encourages support of local businesses like Houston’s Melody’s Traditional Music and we thank you for your sponsorship of the Festival!

    4) Parts may be edited to accommodate your level.

    5) Prepare all required music prior to the festival. Examples - Play just one hand or cross out certain notes to facilitate flow.
